2008 Preliminary Final

Mount Gravatt came up against Morningside in the Preliminary Final at Giffin Park, Coorparoo, for the right to take on Southport in the season decider.

Mount Gravatt kicked with a strong breeze in the opening quarter and, aided by some early Morningside inaccuracy in front of goal, skipped away to a 21-point lead at quarter time.

The Panthers narrowed the margin to just five points at the long break.  After the Vultures threatened to break away early in the third term, Morningside clawed back to keep the margin to just five points at three-quarter time.

The lead changed several times in an exciting final quarter.  Morningside kept their composure slightly the better, and mistakes at some crucial late points proved costly for Mount Gravatt.

Final scores were:
Morningside 10-16 (76)
Mount Gravatt 10-9 (69)

Morningside therefore progressed to the Grand Final to face their old rivals, Southport, with Mount Gravatt, the reigning premiers, eliminated.
